Frequently Asked Dental Questions

At Dentistry in Motion, our team really respects the power of patient education, because the more you know, the better you’ll be able to take care of your teeth! That’s why we’re always willing to take the time to explain things and answer any questions you might have. Below, we’ve compiled answers to some of the frequently asked dental questions we receive every day. And, if there is anything else you’d like to know, don’t hesitate to give us a call!

How often should I schedule checkups and cleanings?

We suggest getting a checkup and cleaning at least once every 6 months, though some patients may require more frequent visits based on their needs. These appointments help our team find and treat any minor decay or damage early so it doesn’t have the chance to cause a bigger problem down the road.

Do I still need dental cleanings even if I brush and floss my teeth every day?

Yes! While oral home care is extremely important, your brush and floss simply aren’t able to reach every tiny corner of your mouth, so over time, plaque can build up and cavities can form even if you clean your teeth every day. Fortunately, routine professional cleanings from our team uses special tools that can take care of these problem areas and ensure you remain cavity-free year after year.

Can I bring my children to Dentistry in Motion?

Yes! We’re happy to accept North York smiles at any age. We have experience treating children through every stage of development, and because many of our staff members are parents themselves, we’ll know how to keep your child completely comfortable during their visits.

What is the best way to replace my missing teeth?

This question is hard to answer without us getting to look at your mouth, but for most patients, our first recommendation would be dental implants. They provide the most complete tooth replacement available today, and with regular oral hygiene, they can easily last for decades as well. Of course, to get a more concrete answer, we suggest scheduling a one-on-one consultation.

I just don’t like how my smile looks. Can you help?

Certainly! Our dentists are experienced in cosmetic dentistry and able to offer a wide variety of treatments specifically designed to improve the appearance of the smile. Whether you have just one bothersome tooth or want a complete makeover, we can provide anything you need to achieve your dream look. Click here to learn more about all of our cosmetic services.

My jaw pops and clicks whenever I move it. Is this normal?

The occasional pop and click is alright, but if your jaw constantly makes noise and even feels sore from time to time, there may be something wrong with the joint. Our team is able to diagnose and treat issues related to the jaw using conservative, non-invasive methods, so if you’re experiencing any kind of persistent pain, be sure to give us a call.

Can you help with a dental emergency?

Yes! If you are experiencing a painful toothache or have sustained some kind of dental injury, go ahead and give us a call. We’ll give you tips on what to do over the phone, and if necessary, we can even schedule a same-day appointment so we can take care of your issue right away.
